Auckland Rugby League (ARL) is responsible for rugby league in the region, including both club and school rugby league. Our students have had the opportunity to work with the ARL since 2017. Every second term, students have the chance over 10-12 weeks to work on upcoming school tournament events, gaining vital event management skills & experience. Students plan and officiate games. Auckland Rugby Leagues is always on the lookout for people to place after studies, in recent years recruiting our Level 3 and 6 students.
The Wellington Cricket Academy is the regional sporting body for Cricket and caters to athletes in a high-performance environment with expert training.
We partnered with them in 2018, to assist those looking to be the next generation of cricket coaches or New Zealand BLACKCAPS and WHITE FERNS players.
We offer two full scholarships each year. To date, we have already seen success, with many students being trained and developed as coaches.
HPSNZ is supported by the government to provide a world leading high performance system for organisations and athletes in New Zealand. We partnered with the HPSNZ to form the Athlete Friendly Network. The Network supports aspiring athletes in balancing their sporting career with their academic studies. It offers a system to achieve academic excellence with innovative approaches to sports science, technology and athlete wellbeing. Our network is committed to students reaching sporting success with plans to support current or retired athletes and identify future high-performance athletes for HPSNZ.
In 2022, we partnered with Jetts Fitness, a chain of health clubs with over 54 clubs nationwide and 200 locations across Australia, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Their purpose is simple - to inspire all people to live a better life. They celebrate all people and are committed to creating a community and a culture that makes you feel comfortable and confident.
Students completing the Certificate in Exercise (Level 4) will receive a FREE Jetts Fitness membership for the duration of their programme. This works out to 4 months of free membership for students at our face to face campuses, and 6 months for students studying online.
They will be able to attend induction workshops monthly which will be held at the NZIS Auckland campus and at the Jetts Club in Mt Wellington.
The purpose of the partnership is to provide a positive educational experience that helps every student learn to move ahead. Expose the students to the opportunities that are available at Jetts Fitness and for each student to be interviewed for job opportunities when they arise.
We have a strong partnership with the Wellington Rugby Football Union (WRFU). Together, we provide a range of training programmes, including study scholarships to WRFU Academy players and developing the pre-elite Academy programme for students looking to join the WRFU Academy. We provide emerging players at WRFU the opportunity to develop and grow outside the game with an education pathway that opens doors for the future, both on and off the field. Our previous graduates include; All Black Ma’a Nonu, Rodney & Steven So’oialo, and more recently Curtis Ambros, Adam Hill, Belgium Tuatagaloa, Nani Laumape and Sam Dickson.
